People have always delighted in imagining fanciful animals and building legends around them.

This is my inspiration. I have envisioned mythical creatures from long ago - some from legends and others from old books, mostly based on the stories from the Orient. In particular, I have focused on Korean folk tales and an ancient Chinese book, "Sanhaekyung".  Some of my creatures combine human and animal elements. Nobody knows whether they actually existed at one time long ago. But even if they did not, their emotional and psychological presence make them real for many, even now.  With some creature, like the dragon, there are both western and eastern versions - each with their own distinctive mythologies.
